Identical twins George and Charles Clements first played Lena’s stage with the hugely popular Lonely Heartstring Band. Their breakout 2023 duo album, Dandelion Breeze, “staked its claim as one of the year’s best debuts.” (Folk Radio UK) With roots, rock, bluegrass, jazz, and classical influences, George (on guitar) and Charles (on bass) make groovy, serene music that “unassumingly and softly seeps into your soul.” They are joined by drummer Mike Harmon for a show of seamless vocal harmonies, instrumental virtuosity, and a genuine love of song.

Sabrina Trueheart, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy, 6pm

The Summer Square Concert Series is a free, outdoor event at 6 PM Saturday nights June -September in front of the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall.

Sabrina Trueheart is an artist who certainly lives up to her name. Growing up in Connecticut, she spent her teen years playing folk songs at local coffeehouses. Now, she has carried her guitar from New Haven to New York and beyond, crafting dreamy folk rock instrumentation through ethereal guitar layers using a singular delay pedal and nylon string guitar, all while running a rod of twang throughout.

Tower of Power, Universal Preservation Hall, Saratoga Springs

For 55 years, Tower of Power has delivered the best in funk and soul music.“We were a Soul band called The Motowns.” recalls Emilio Castillo. “Rocco was the bass player, I was there, and my brother was the drummer. I met “Doc” Kupka back in 1968, and gave him an audition. He came in the band, and we eventually changed our name to the Tower of Power.” The reason for the band name change was that they had a specific goal in mind.

Old No. 1 at 50 – Celebrating the Spirit of Guy Clark, Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs, 8pm-10pm

On November 7, 1975, the day after his 34th birthday, RCA Records released Old No. 1, legendary songwriter Guy Clark’s debut album. While not a commercial success by any stretch, the album was highly praised by the press and “L.A. Freeway,” “Desperados Waiting for a Train,” “Rita Ballou” “Texas 1947” “Let Him Roll” and “That Old Time Feeling” soon became instant classics. No one could have known then that Old No. 1 would inspire generations of American songwriters, troubadours and music fans.

The Guy Clark Family Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to supporting songwriters, is celebrating the 50thanniversary of Old No. 1 with a series of concerts around the country to bring awareness to the organization, and to boost songwriters who work in the spirit of Guy Clark. Songwriters will perform songs from Old No. 1, followed by a set of their own original material.
