The International Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame held their annual induction dinner for the class of 2025 at the Desmond in Albany, NY. Located in the MVP Arena, the IPWHF preserves wrestling history and immortalizes those who have made lasting contributions to the wrestling business. The 2025 inductees include legends Trish Stratus, “Mister USA” Tony Atlas, Rocky Johnson, Tito Santana, and Johnny Rodz.
Trish Stratus elevated the role of women in pro wrestling. She started during an era when women were more seen as eye candy. She transitioned from a manager to a serious in-ring competitor. Her rivalry with Lita proved that women can be main event stars. Trish still wrestles to this day.
“Mister USA” Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson broke racial barriers in the ’80s. They became the first black champions in WWE history. They won the Tag Team titles in 1983. Tony, with his award-winning physique, and Rocky, with his charismatic charm, enjoyed much success in the ’70s and ’80s.
Tito Santana is recognized as a workhorse of wrestling in the 1980s. He was one of the most popular “babyfaces” of the 1980s wrestling expansion. He won the Intercontinental and Tag Championships. His high-energy style made him a top performer.
“Unpredictable” Johnny Rodz has made massive contributions to the business. He is one of the most legendary trainers in wrestling history. It was often said that if you were going to work the NY territory, you had to go through Johnny. His true legacy is his training school. Some of his past students include The Dudley Boyz, Tazz, and Tommy Dreamer.
Besides wrestlers, awards are given to people who have made a positive and lasting impact in the world of Professional Wrestling. The Bill Apter Excelsior Award goes to a person whose contributions have elevated the art of pro wrestling. This year’s recipient was NWA owner Willian Corgan. The Rocky “Soulman” Johnson Medal of Mettle Award highlights someone who has overcome adversity with strength. Darin Vail was honored this year. The Trailblazer Award is given to a person whose affiliation with pro wrestling has promoted innovation in the industry. This year’s honoree was Clarence Bouldin.
