Bourbon Review: Brick by Brick’s “Smooth Truth”

Smooth Truth

Bourbon Review: Brick by Brick’s “Smooth Truth” – by Liam Sweeny.

So Brick by Brick has made a bourbon called Smooth Truth, out a while now, and in anticipation of their show on March 13th at Empire Live, I will, of sound mind and in fair general condition, review this custom spirit.

Their most recent album “Collapse” is playing in the background. Maxime Taccardi did the cover; it’s sick as hell.

Alright, so when I opened the bottle and took a whiff, it has a nice amount of weight, or substance to it, just enough to be present. Hints of molasses, dark chocolate, raw honey; a well-rounded sweetness, not heavy at all; we’re talking notes. Vapors are well contained off the sniff.

And it’s got the earthiness on that first sip, a good, quick bite. For me, I want to say it has a feel of rum, but maybe more that it’s just a solid bourbon.

The aftertaste is mellow, relaxing. It’s got a higher alcohol content, but I’m not overpowered by it. And it settles real nice in the glass when it’s been sit for a little while.

Of course you want the shot review too, so down the hatch.

Biggest thing about the shot is that it’s so smooth, holy crap. It is seriously smooth. I can imagine how easy it would be to wake up naked on a quarter horsey ride.

You have to know that this isn’t a commercial, I got an apartment upstairs full of lead-foots showing off two brand new 15” subwoofers, and I had to wash all the dishes in the sink just to find this glass. This isn’t a tasting room; this is freakin real life, man. It’s brutal. And I’m telling you this stuff is keeping me from hitting the ceiling with a broom handle. So when I say this bourbon is relaxing, there’s actually sh*t to relax about over here. \

And yet it rides…
