YONDER MOUNTAIN STRING BAND RETURNS TO THE GREAT HALL!

Yonder Mountain String Band, a driving force in roots music for nearly three decades and a key player in the progressive jamgrass movement, kicks off a new chapter with “Nowhere Next.” Featuring original songs inspired by lived experiences, people, and places that have shaped them, the album is a mix of bluegrass, rock, and country with soulful, funky grooves. Their 11th studio album follows the Grammy-nominated Get Yourself Outside (2022), adding depth and momentum to Yonder’s rich musical legacy.

Join us for an exceptional evening of music with two of Albany’s best bands – Hilltop & Raisinhead on Friday, February 6th Doors 7/Show 8

Hilltop is a five-piece funk band from Albany, NY. This young blend of musicians have been making waves with their themed sets including palindrome and experimental sets as well as a rave and a 70’s funk party. Hilltop is known for locking the crowd in with their catchy originals and tight, groove centered jams.

Chowderfest + Ill Funk Ensemble, Putnam Place, Saratoga, 11am-4pm

Swing over to Putnam Place during Chowderfest and try some of Chef Kenny Bourbeau’s Smoked Chicken & Corn Chowder, plus Kenny B’s Miso Honey Hot Sauce.  Ill Funk Ensemble will be in the house, throwing down some great live music from 1pm – 4pm.

A slick mash-up of hip-hop, neo-soul, R&B and rock that’s been compared to The Roots, THE ILL FUNK ENSEMBLE has been described as “soul for the masses” (Technorati.com), “airtight on all levels” (JamSphere Magazine), “brilliant” (The Signal Magazine) and “about to change the face of hip-hop music” (Indie Band Guru).

Biography:

The Knights are a collective of adventurous musicians dedicated to transforming the orchestral experience and eliminating barriers between audiences and music. Driven by an open-minded spirit of camaraderie and exploration, they inspire listeners with vibrant programs rooted in the classical tradition and passion for artistic discovery. The Knights evolved from late-night chamber music reading parties with friends at the home of violinist Colin Jacobsen and cellist Eric Jacobsen. The Jacobsen brothers together serve as artistic directors of The Knights, with Eric Jacobsen as conductor.
