Kobi Reese didn’t just release a record this past weekend—they ignited a celebration of classic rock spirit and fresh ambition at Crossroads in Garwood, NJ. The venue, known for its intimate charm and loyal local crowd, was the perfect backdrop for the band’s debut album, “Breaking Ground,” and the energy from 12 to 2:30 PM was anything but midday mellow.
From the moment the band launched into the first track off the new album, it was clear they weren’t just playing—they were claiming space. Reese’s vocals carried grit and warmth, backed by a tight rhythm section and guitar work that nodded to rock legends without leaning too heavily on nostalgia. The setlist blended the full “Breaking Ground” album with classic rock covers that had the crowd singing along, bridging generations and genres with ease.
Highlights included several guest appearances, giveaways, and a vinyl/CD pre-order station that felt more like a merch table at a family reunion—warm, welcoming, and full of pride. The $5 cover was a steal for the experience, and the all-ages crowd added to the sense of community.
Kobi Reese may be heading to Germany next month to support Bonfire on tour, but Sunday’s show proved they’re already rock royalty in Jersey. “Breaking Ground” isn’t just an album title—it’s a promise, and they delivered.
