Rocksackie Music Series Brings High Energy to the Wire Event Center

The Wire Event Center came alive on Friday night as the Rocksackie Music Series, presented by Brian Jakusik, delivered an unforgettable double-headliner show. The evening featured two powerhouse bands: the genre-blending Psycho Mutton Chops and the high-energy Big Empty, making for a perfect mix of nostalgia, adrenaline, and pure rock entertainment.

Kicking off the night was Psycho Mutton Chops, Upstate NY’s premier psychobilly, blues, and surf rock band. With a set packed full of infectious original songs and covers spanning the ’50s and ’60s surf rock era, they had the crowd instantly moving. But they didn’t stop there—adding their stylistic flair to favorites from the ’70s and ’80s, they delivered a dynamic performance that set the tone for an electrifying night. Their energetic stage presence and signature sound proved why they are a local favorite, leaving concertgoers buzzing with excitement.

As the night progressed, Big Empty took over, bringing their explosive alternative rock energy straight from Schenectady. One of the fastest-rising acts in the Capital Region, they delivered a setlist packed with ’90s-2000s alt-rock anthems that had the audience singing along from start to finish.

One of the defining moments of the night came when frontman Patrick Follett launched into a powerful cover of the Cranberries’ “Zombie.” The atmosphere shifted as the crowd was swept up in the raw emotion of the performance, hanging on every note. Another standout moment was their rendition of George Michael’s “Careless Whisper,” reimagined with an emotionally charged rock twist that gave the song a whole new life. But it was “Crazy Bitch,” the Buckcherry hit, that sent the energy levels through the roof—pulling fans from the back of the venue to the front of the stage in a frenzy of movement, singing, and sheer rock revelry.

The pairing of Psycho Mutton Chops and Big Empty made for an epic night, blending vintage surf rock vibes with high-voltage alt-rock energy. It was a show that didn’t just entertain—it ignited a party atmosphere that left concertgoers craving more. The Rocksackie Music Series once again proved why it’s a staple in the Upstate NY music scene, bringing together stellar talent and an unforgettable live music experience.

The Rocksackie Music Series continues with limited engagements through March 2025, offering fans more chances to experience top-tier live performances. To make the night even more exciting, attendees can book transportation on a party bus, ensuring a safe and seamless way to enjoy the show while starting the festivities early.
