Still, some of the concert’s finest moments came when least expected, on “December Snow,” from its 2003 album, “December,” a haunting ballad full of unexpected twists and sterling contributions from all.

1 year ago: Tyler Childers / S.G. Goodman @ Saratoga Performing Arts Center

Entering the Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven portion of the show, Childers would pay homage to one of his biggest influences, Hank Williams, with a stellar cover of “Old Country Church” that made SPAC feel like exactly that. Following fan favorites “Whitehouse Road” and “Honkey Tonk Flame,” opening act S.G. Goodman was then invited to the stage for a scintillating duet on “Way of the Triune God.” Building up the momentum, “House Fire” would have fans stomping their feet and set us up for one final singalong, the anthemic “Universal Sound,” bringing the epic and cathartic evening to a close.

1 year ago: Donny Osmond @ Palace Theatre

The middle portion of the show was almost a Donny Osmond stump the band, where Donny took requests for ANY song recorded in the 65 albums mentioned above.  “Wake Up Little Susie,” sung, of course, to audience member Susie. “Love Me For a Reason” was a serious tear jerker as he asked if the crew had the video, which was the last video he and his brothers did together – and his performance showed just how much it meant to him.  Damn.
