Band of Gold Brings the Heat (and the Cool) to Riverfront Park

Words and Photography by Nate Black.

On a humid Monday evening, July 7th, the gazebo at Riverfront Park in Rensselaer turned into a sonic oasis as Band of Gold hit the stage. The heat was thick, the air was heavy, but as soon as the first notes rang out, the crowd found its chill.

Known for their genre-blending sound, Band of Gold delivered a smooth set of contemporary rock ballads and the kind of soulful Motown vibes that make you sway without realizing it. Think Marvin Gaye, but with a side of summer lemonade and good company.

Vocalist charisma? Check. Guitar solos? Extra crispy. Bass lines? Smooth like a cold drink on a 90-degree day. From toe-tapping tunes to heartfelt harmonies, the band gave the audience all the reasons they needed to hang around, hum along, and forget about the sweat on their brows.
