TopHouse Lights Up Lark Hall: More Than a Show. It Was an Experience.

Words and Photography by Nate Black.

Before TopHouse even hit the stage, fans were buzzing, trading stories about how many shows they’ve been to and which cities they’ve traveled through just to see them. This wasn’t just a crowd; it was a community.

And then the music started.

Trying to pin TopHouse down to a genre is like trying to eat soup with a fork … it misses the point. Sure, there are stringed instruments. Yes, there’s a keyboard. And absolutely, the vocals are tight enough to harmonize with your heartbeat. But calling it “folk” just doesn’t cut it. This is music you feel.

Even a brief technical hiccup turned into part of the charm, with the band opening up to a spontaneous Q&A session. We learned someone’s favorite Lord of the Rings character (no spoilers), got a hot breakfast take (kielbasa reigns supreme), and were reassured their keyboardist is alive, well, and crushing it.

From start to finish, TopHouse captivated. Not a moment felt still. Not a soul left unmoved.
