One Track at a Time

Popular pop-punk band The Offspring’s tenth studio album, Let the Bad Times Roll was a big success, hitting the Top Ten in its American debut and Number 3 in the UK charts. But what about their eleventh album?

In the works, says singer Bryan “Dexter” Holland. He explained to Blabbermouth.net that the way recording has worked for the tracks, they don’t have an album half done, but half an album fully done. It’s been a slog, the band having to find spots in between touring to record a song here, a song there. It helps that they’re working with Bob Rock of Motley Crue and Metallica fame.

Regardless of how the album is coming together, the band is all in on it, and beyond all-in on playing live.

1,200% Bangers

Canadian metal band Kittie has been around a while, longer than it seems to anyone who got into their groove in the beginning. Their first album, “Spit,” debuted in 2000. But in current time, they’re working on an album to follow 2011’s “I’ve Failed You.”

A new Knotfest “She’s With The Band” podcast relayed Kittie drummer Mercedes Lander’s pride in the fact that the new album had all 1,200% bangers. Bangers only usually top out at 500%.

Kittie took a few years off of the road, just starting to tour again in 2022. Their lineup has changed over the years, but is currently Mercedes (drummer) and Morgan (guitarist/vocalist) Lander, Tara McLeod (guitarist) and bassist Ivana “Ivy” Vujic. The original band got together in 2022 for an online chat, which hopefully no Kittie fans missed.

Green Day in a Small Club

Picture it; a small, eight-hundred capacity club, and who is onstage but Green Day? It’s right before the When We Were Young festival they were headlining along with Blink-182. They sing “The American Dream is Killing Me,” but maybe those aren’t the most important words going through the club that night. Maybe it was the full version of Dookie. Or maybe it was the announcement of a summer 2024 stadium tour with The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, and The Linda Lindas.

In case you can’t score stadium seats, or you just hate trying to get out of stadium parking, there are at-home goodies for Green Day’s 30th Anniversary big box set with mystery material. And they’re not alone, Smashing Pumpkins also putting out anniversary swag, Look for it.

And, of course, there’s a new album on deck. Titled Saviors, the band’s 14th studio album is out on Jan. 19, 2024.

Greta Van Fleet Tour

The news? Rock band and Grammy winning band Greta Van Fleet is extending their world tour with twelve additional stops in 2024. These are mostly in the southern and central U.S., places like Texas, Missouri, South Carolina, Georgia (full list to follow.)

This tour, which starts its European conquest on November 6th in Germany, is in support of their wildly popular July release, “Starcatcher.” This album placed 8th on the Billboard 200, but 1st in Rock Albums, Hard Rock Albums, and Rock and Alternative Albums. This is in addition to being in the Top Ten in most of Europe.

About Starcatcher, singer Josh Kiszka gave Blabbermouth.net the pitch. “‘Starcatcher’ is a dangerous and delightful expedition into a both violent and gentle dreamlike landscape,” he said. “A purgatory of duality where brutality and beauty clash like a thunderstorm of stillness. Neither fact nor fiction inhabit the far reaches of this surrealist world. A storybook for the fighters and lovers alike ‘Starcatcher’ captures a certain wonder on the fringe of mayhem.”
