Cohoes, New York – The summer heat wasn’t the only thing turning up the temperature Thursday night in Canal Square. On July 10, Rock the Block welcomed Back in Black, the legendary AC/DC tribute band out of Massachusetts, and they brought a full blast of rock and roll energy to the free concert series.
From the first riff to the final note, the band delivered a high-octane performance that had the crowd cheering, dancing, and singing along.
Front and center, Dan Molethin embodied Angus Young’s signature style—storming the stage in a red velvet shorts suit and Converse high-tops, never standing still for more than a second. Every jump, leap, and blistering solo cranked up the intensity, leaving fans wondering how he managed to keep that pace in the summer heat.
Mike Luciuk, though only five months in on drums, played with the confidence and presence of a long-time member, keeping the set tight and thunderous. Up front, Tony Sitler nailed the iconic AC/DC vocals with stunning accuracy, backed by bassist Bobby Sitler, who locked in the groove with unwavering power. Rounding out the lineup was Miguel Goncalves on rhythm guitar and backing vocals—his smile said it all. The man radiated joy, clearly loving every second on stage.
From “Highway to Hell” to “You Shook Me All Night Long,” Back in Black delivered the goods with raw energy and undeniable chemistry. It wasn’t just a tribute—it was a celebration of rock.
Rock the Block continues every Thursday evening through August 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Canal Square (72 Remsen Street). Grab your lawn chair, bring your friends, and come rock out with some of the best live music around—all free!
