TROY (05/8/26) – A free outdoor concert series in Troy returns directly behind Ryan’s Wake, now with two additional concert dates.

Ryan’s Wake Public House has announced a free, eight-week outdoor evening concert series starting May 13. Now in its fourth season, “Wake Up Wednesdays” presented by NextStep Federal Credit Union, will run for eight Wednesdays in a row starting at 5 p.m. Bands perform from a stage set up directly behind Ryan’s Wake at 403 River St.

By adding two additional show dates, Ryan’s Wake is helping fill the gap in summer programming this year as the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District will not be putting on a Rockin’ on the River concert series this summer.

“With two extra shows this season, we’re happy to do our part to keep the free live music going on the Troy waterfront,” said Ryan’s Wake General Manager Jared Kingsley. “It’s especially fitting since Rockin’ on the River originally started right here in the parking lot where Wake Up Wednesdays now takes place.”

The rain-or-shine concert series is designed to be a familiar mid-week break before the busy summer season starts, where people can sing along to familiar music, have a beverage and still be in bed by nine.

“It’s called ‘Wake Up Wednesdays’ but you’ll also be able to wake up on Thursday because you don’t have to stay out too late,” said Kingsley.

Music styles run the spectrum, from Grateful Dead tributes to party bands, 2000s hits, rock ’n roll, 80s/90s country and rock, yacht rock, Zach Bryan tributes and Journey tributes.

In the event of bad weather, bands move inside to the spacious “Flynn Side,” one of three unique indoor bar spaces at Ryan’s Wake.

Founded in 2005 by Chris Ryan at 403 River Street, Ryan’s Wake has grown from a modest pub into an expansive venue with “The Flynn Bar,” “The River Bar,” and a renowned riverside deck.

This year’s presenting sponsor is NextStep Federal Credit Union, now combining the best online banking with convenient in-branch service.

What’s in A Name?

The name “Ryan’s Wake” is a nod to the Ryan family funeral business and to the tradition of celebrating life at an Irish wake. It is also a playful reference to the wakes created by passing boats on the Hudson River that flows by the pub’s deck.
