I (Rob Smittix) never seen The Disco Biscuits live in concert before last Friday (02/03/2023) and I realize that I am late to the game but hey it’s never too late, is it?

A new project from Michael Travis (The String Cheese Incident) and Aaron Johnston (Brazilian Girls, David Byrne’s American Utopia) called Snakes and Stars opened up the night at The Palace Theatre in Albany and they really set up the atmosphere for the evening. These two amazing percussionists pretty much made you have to dance, like it wasn’t even a choice, your body made the decision for you.

When the The Disco Biscuits came to the stage the aisles filled up with revelers and away we went. I was thoroughly impressed with the musicianship of the band but also the show itself was a spectacular display that a video could never do justice. I’m not sure if another area venue could’ve handled the bass that rattled The Palace at it’s inner core. At one point you really wondered if the cherub statues were going to come flying down from the ceiling. Albany was 100% the place to be on Friday night despite the negative temperatures, the vibes were all positive at a show which was also deemed the release of “SHOCKED!”

Thank you Frankie Cavone of Mirth Films for inviting me to tag along and a very special thanks to Greg Bell (Guthrie Bell Productions) for bringing amazing music to the region for over 30 years now! The Disco Biscuits were a blast and I’d certainly pay to see them again!
