Slash

Renowned Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash is putting out a tribute to the blues, and it’s a doozy. The album, entitled ‘Orgy of the Damned,’ is his sixth solo album since he joined the iconic rock group. Gibson Records will be releasing this album on Ma 17th.

‘Orgy of the Damned’ is Slash’s homage to the blues. In it, 12 songs are collected, starting off with a remake of Howling Wolf’s 1964 hit “Killing Floor,” featuring Brian Johnson of AC/DC on vocals and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyer on harmonica.

There’s a video out for ‘Killing Floor,’ and it offers a view of Slash’s blues band, consisting of Johnny Griparic (bass),Teddy Andreadis (keyboards),Michael Jerome (drums),and Tash Neal (vocals/guitar).

Although Slash grew up in England, he was exposed to blues at an early age by his grandmother. He would later find out that the blues musicians he’d listened to as a kid had influenced the rock players that would later influence him.

Lemmy Kilmister

Motorhead legend Lemmy Kilmister has found a place to rest his head, in a manner of speaking. His ashes will be permanently memorialized at the UK’s annual Bloodstock. He will have a unique urn, which amounts to a bust of Lemmy. His memorial will be on display in the event at the RAM Gallery on site. When the festival isn’t happening, Kilmister’s ashes will return to Nottingsham’s Rock City venue.

Todd Singerman, Motorhead’s manager, had this to say, “Bloodstock has always been a special place for MOTÖRHEAD and for Lemmy. The people and the energy matched Lemmy’s values perfectly. Alan and Vicky were also great friends and basically family of Lemmy, as he was the reason that they originally got together. This is definitely a fitting honor in the continuing series of enshrinements of Lemmy’s ashes in his most loved places.”

There are going to be many Motorhead-themes aspects of this year’s Bloodstock, including the sounding of the Motorhead airhorn.

Bloodstock’s 2024 Ronnie James Dio main stage headliners are AMON AMARTH, OPETH, and ARCHITECTS. Across the weekend you can also expect to see CLUTCH, HATEBREED, CARCASS, ENSLAVED, MALEVOLENCE, SATYRICON, ROTTING CHRIST, SYLOSIS, WHITECHAPEL, DEICIDE, GRAND MAGUS, DESERT STORM, THE VINTAGE CARAVAN, SOEN, GREEN LUNG, COMBICHRIST, XENTRIX, EXIST IMMORTAL, ETERNAL CHAMPION, GROVE STREET, MIMI BARKS, CRYPTA, FORBIDDEN, NERVOSA, BEAST IN BLACK, KORPIKLAANI, UNLEASH THE ARCHERS, FLOGGING MOLLY, SEPTIC FLESH, IGORRR, RUIJIN, UNPEOPLE, NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, HELLRIPPER, INFECTED RAIN, CULTURA TRES, SADUS, LUDOVICO TECHNIQUE, BURNER, RED RUM, EVERGREY, RAISED BY OWLS, TAILGUNNER, SOUTH OF SALEM and ANKOR, with more still to be announced.
