Week Forty-Nine: Jesse Sample’s Freak of the Week “In Defense of Winter”

Written by on December 4, 2024

Jesse Sample’s Freak of the Week Airs EVERY WEDNESDAY at 6pm EASTERN only on RadioRadioX.com

This is Jesse Sample. Winter gets a bad rap. When summer starts winding down around here, folks get bummed. Some folks actually do something about it and move south where the winters are mild or even non-existent. And to each their own. If you hate the mid-February freeze, I will never want to force it upon you. It’s just more for me.

Yes, there are mornings where you absolutely do not want to leave your home or even your bed. The cold air can sting you and often does when you are the most mentally vulnerable, perhaps before your first cup of coffee. But in the deep cold of winter, I think there is the possibility for a special kind of mental clarity.

Jogging in the cold, is usually hard for the first few minutes. First, you must make up your mind to do it. You must forsake the warmth of your home and possibly the sweet woman in it. You can bundle up but remember, you’re gonna have to carry all those extra clothes. You start out. Your joints start screaming. Patience and trust are essential here. Your lungs need some time to adapt to the new air. And eventually, you find your breath and your body rises to the task at hand. The crisp air becomes  intoxicating, and all your big problems shrink and eventually blow away.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t get it that good in July.

Thanks to all of you chilling and tuned into RadioRadioX. This is the Freak of the Week, “In Defense of Winter.”
