Caffe Lena – Week at a Glance

By on September 8, 2025

Greetings – Happy Sept-Member! Every September we take extra time to thank the folks who keep tickets affordable, fund the open mics and jams, and help us care for our historic home. Yes, these wonderful people are our Members. Enjoy reading about two of them, Kathy and Jody, who do so much to make the Caffe a musical home for all to enjoy.

Fifty years ago, Texas musician Guy Clark released Old No. 1, an album that may not have topped the charts, but for fellow songwriters it became the paragon of song craft. His songs have been recorded by Emmylou Harris, Jerry Jeff Walker, and countless other Caffe Lena artists, and his true hearted , plain spoken, direct style can be felt across contemporary folk music. But Guy Clark contributed more than his songs. His collaborative approach and generous mentorship of newer artists, such as Lyle Lovett, Steve Earle, Roseanne Cash and Rodney Crowell, introduced a new approach to songwriting. The Guy Clark Family Foundation has organized this national tour to celebrate his legacy and raise money for grants to artists who keep collaboration and mentorship central in their work. We’re pleased to bring the celebration to you, with a wonderful line-up of national and local artists: Meghan Cary (NYC), Stephen Clair (Hudson Valley), Michael Eck (Albany), Adam Monaco (Philadelphia), Jack Murray (Lehigh Valley), Buddy Mondlock (Nashville) and Rees Shad (Berkshires).

See you at the show,
Sarah
