The Great Wall of China – Break On Through

Written by on September 20, 2023

The Great Wall of China is one of the seven wonders of the world, can be seen from space (NASA claims no) and has presided over thousands of years of history, separating China from the Mongolian plains. But it’s a bitch to get around if you happen to be running an excavator on other business. But if you have an excavator, your solution is at hand.

Two workers in China were arrested to using their excavator to carve a ‘shortcut’ through the wall. They were just tired of having to go around it. China claims irreparable harm to that section of the wall. The workers claimed that they simply had to go, and couldn’t hold it (No  they did not, but imagine if they did? Would they have gotten off easier?)

These two, a man and a woman, just didn’t have the patience to go around the wall to an open spot, so just like that, crunch. Just laziness and impatience. Pretty sad if you ask me. But as for the breach in the wall, one has to keep it in perspective.

Genghis Khan also didn’t want to go around, and he breached the wall in a number of places; Wusha Fortress, Juyongguan, Zijingguan, and Tongguan, etc. Of course, he was, you know, conquering Asia those days. The workers could’ve claimed they were carrying out their ancestor’s mission, seeing as how over 16 million people minimum can claim their ancestry. Worth a shot, right?

It’s sad to see what amounts to major vandalism on something so ancient, so impressive. But when you account for the crude carvings of penises on everything from Egyptian monuments to Roman monuments to any restroom in New York City south of the high-life, and there’s a pattern.

Should they be arrested? No doubt. And I can’t imagine what it’s going to be like for them in Chinese prisons. Holy crap, can you imagine?

“What are you in for?”

“Nothing, I just smashed a hole through the thing we’re most famous for.”
