Yungblud
Yungblud has teamed up with Smashing Pumpkins to do a remake of the hit song “Zombie.” It stays true to the original for the most part. Pumpkins’ singer Billie Corgan provides solid vocals coming in on the second verse. That heavy guitar sound that Smashing Pumpkins uses to drive their sound.
Yungblud is going on a North American tour, starting in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Tickets are available from StubHub.
Badbrains
The iconic band Badbrains was an influence, not just on bands, but on music itself. One of these genres is often not talked about in conversations about Badbrains. Part of the effect that Badbrains had on music, especially heavy music, is that it opened up stereotypes, giving people a chance to see diversity on instruments where it wasn’t always existent.
Spoken on the album “I Against I”: “I Against I was not the first album to mix hard rock with elements of funk and soul—that path was paved by groups like Funkadelic. But I Against I calcified the combination into something sexy, heavy, and thoroughly modern.”
Les Claypool
From Consequence – Les Claypool puts South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone up there with the all-time great duos.
“Chemistry is a magical, magical thing. Whether it’s Lennon and McCartney, or Abbott and Costello, or Parker and Stone, it’s chemistry. Chemistry is a wonderful, wonderful thing.”
