James Webb Telescope Reveals Universal Question

Written by on September 22, 2023

Okay, so this one needs a visual reference. Feel free at any time to scroll down and take a look. The James Webb Telescope took a picture, the same way an MRI takes a picture (don’t kill me science nerds) i.e. many slices to make a picture. They were looking at these two stars, Herbig-Haro 46/47. They’re only a couple thousand years old, so they were forming when I bought my underwear. And this is great for scientists to check out star formation, and a reminder to me to hop on Amazon and get some new boxers.

But that wasn’t the thing. In that same image is a shape that looks exactly like a question mark. Again, scroll down, look at it. LOOK AT IT!!!

Yeah, so the universe is looking at us like, what are you gonna do? Where do you want to go? How big do you plan on stuffing Oreos?

There’s a term pareidolia. You look in the crowds and you see a lion. Or you look in a oil slick puddle and you see your future (God, I hope not) and that’s pareidolia. Your mind sees things in ordinary stuff. Jesus on toast.

So what we’re actually seeing is the merger of two or three galaxies pretty far away. Maybe even near the beginning of time. The James Webb Telescope is the gift that keeps on giving. But let’s ignore the buzzkill. What if it was a sign from the early universe to us, knowing that we would someday pareidolia the hell out of it? What would it be asking us? I know we’re all thinking the high-minded stuff, but what if the universe is just asking us to send noodz? I mean, we already did (Voyager II) and maybe the universe got them and wants more?

I don’t know. I’d like to think that maybe the universe is throwing us a question mark because it doesn’t know what the hell’s going on either.
