Sex Music

You can learn a lot from surveying a thousand people. While it doesn’t sound like a lot, a sample size of a thousand is just enough to tell you where the pulse of the people is. And, finger on the pulse, ZipHealth has determined that the Deftones are the most popular metal band during sex. But Nine Inch Nails is the most popular metal band for BDSM.

Deftones, aside from being the number one metal band for sex, was number three other all, behind The Weeknd and Kanye West. Across all musical playlists, Nicki Minaj’s “Super Freak Girl” took the cake. And the NIN song “Closer” is the Number one BDSM song, which goes to figure, as its one of their most recognized songs.

In this survey, 47% of respondents reported that they listen to music during sex. In terms of time spent doing the deed and/or the pre-game, hip hop led with an average of 31.5 minutes.

To the 53% of respondents who don’t listen to music pericoital, ZipHealth said that music lowers sexual performance anxiety. So might want to get on that.

Alkaline Trio

Supporting their latest album, “Blood, Hair, and Eyeballs,” Alkaline Trio is launching a North American tour this fall. The American leg will start on September in San Antonio and will make stops in New Orleans, Milwaukee and Buffalo among other cities and conclude in Newport, Kentucky on the 29th of the same month.

The album dropped in January. It was Alkaline Trio’s first studio album in six years. The title track and the song “Bad Time” were the pre-release singles, but the whole album is obviously out by now.

Tickets are being sold at Live Nation, with StubHub as a secondary market.

Phil Mogg

Out of the ashes of the band UFO’s demise, and despite health problems, UFO singer Phil Mogg has come up with a new band with a self-titled album. The band (and the album) is called “Moggs Motel.” And to support this album, a tour is planned for September of this year.

Phil Mogg has one of the most recognized voices in rock music, and took a hiatus to refill his cauldrom with creatyive steam. Al;ong with Tony Newton from Voodoo Six on bass and keys and Neil Carter on guitar and keyboards as well as vocals. It was recorded at Iron Maiden bassist’s Steve Harris’s studio. Joe Lazarus on drums and Tommy Gentry on guitar joing Mogg in the studio.

The album has twelve songs and is being released by Moggs’s label Steamhammer/SPV on September 6th. It will be available on vinyl, CD, and digital download, with two songs, “Apple Pie,” coming out on June 28th and “Sunny Side of Heaven” on August 16.

Bruce Dickinson

On July 26, Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson will be releasing a limited edition single called “Resurrection Man.” Dickinson noted a neat contribution to the song. “The surf guitar at the intro — the Dick Dale bit — that’s me!” He said this during his first solo European tour in two decades. “We were just mucking around with the tremolo setting, we put the chords down and I went, ‘Okay, that’s kinda cool!’ It was, like, ‘What if Quentin Tarantino made a metal record?’ Then it goes somewhere different, we get a bit heavy, and we did this whole middle section and it was, like, ‘Were you just channeling Geezer Butler in another life?’ It was early [BLACK] SABBATH — ‘Behind The Wall Of Sleep’. Just, ‘Oh my god, that’s heavy!'”

The release is a three song album with a gatefold digi-sleeve and includes a limited number of 375mm x 285mm Mandrake “Movie Posters” for Mandrake Project driven pre-orders.

The two songs accompanying “Resurrection Man,” “Afterglow Of Ragnarok” and “Abduction”, were recorded in a May 2024 show in Pao Alto, Brazil show.

Dickinson is joined by Dave Moreno on drums, Mistheria on keyboards, and Tanya O’Callaghan on bass alongside newcomers guitarist and songwriter Phillip Naslund and guitarist Chris LeClerq
