Opera Saratoga Presents: Così Fan Tutte, Universal Preservation Hall, Saratoga Springs

IT’S QUITE ABSURD! THERE ARE SO FEW CONSTANT WOMEN IN THIS WORLD, AND HERE ARE TWO OF THEM!

WILL PROMISES MADE IN THE MORNING WITHSTAND A NIGHT OF FANTASY?

Mozart’s sparkling music collides with Da Ponte’s darkly funny libretto in this betting opera where the promise of perfect marriage competes with the temptation of earthly desire.

Directed by Gisela Cardenas and conducted by Ryan McAdams.
This production is sung in Italian with English supertitles.

Mozart and Da Ponte’s wager opera, “Così Fan Tutte,” stars Grammy™ nominated bass-baritone Aubrey Allicock as the cynical Don Alfonso who pits spirituality against materialism when he bets that love will not withstand immediate gratification. Directed by Gisela Cardenas (Princess Grace Fellow) and conducted by Ryan McAdams (Crash Ensemble, Opernhaus Zürich).

Yes Darling – Featuring Ryan Montbleau and Hayley Jane, Cohoes Music Hall, Cohoes, 8pm-10pm

Hayley sings. Ryan plays guitar and sings. Which means Ryan does more. Yeah, but Hayley puts way more time and effort into looking and sounding good on stage and is obviously the face of the project.

Led by the legendary Ryan Montbleau and commanded by the illustrious Hayley Jane, there is rarely a disagreement or power struggle within the project. The two get along like peas andcarrots. Except for when they don’t. But they do. Yeah, sometimes. Hayley, you’re ruining thisbio right now. Well Ryan, I told you to just let me do it! That never ends well. And you’resupposed to leave two spaces after the end of a sentence, I’ve had to go back and fix all ofyours. What? I have never heard of that in my entire life! Don’t fix that one. Ugh, fine. Let’s getback to writing about how great we are.

Opera Saratoga Presents: Mad Scramble for Crumbs – Inti Figgis-Vizueta World Premiere Opera, Universal Preservation Hall, Saratoga Springs

THE GREATEST GAMBLE OF ALL!

A world premiere opera specifically written for Opera Saratoga festival artists, organically devised and composed during the summer season by award-winning
Composer-in-Residence inti figgis-vizueta.

A world premier opera, devised and composed during the summer season by composer-in-residence Inti Figgis-Vizueta, “whose music feels sprouted between structures, liberated from certainty and wrought from a language we’d do well to learn,” writes The Washington Post. Inti’s work explores the transformative power of group improvisation and play, working to reconcile historical aesthetics and experimental practices with trans & Indigenous futures. “The Festival Residency with Opera Saratoga is an incredible opportunity to explore the expressive world of contemporary opera, a first for me as a composer” Figgis-Vizueta says. “My highly collaborative approach to music making is a perfect match with this development-focused residency and I’m excited to organically create a work alongside a talented creative team.
