Shifty Shellshock
In 1999, the nu-metal band Crazytown put out an album called “The Gift of Game,” which contained the hit single “Butterfly,” the song the band would become known for. Sadly, the singer, Shifty Shellshock, was found dead in his residenceon Monday, June 24th. Also the cause of death was not disclosed, Shellshock had a long and open history with substance abuse and addiction, even appearing on the show Celebrity Rehab.
He had gone on from Crazytown and pursued a solo career, but his problems with addiction plagued not only him personally, but his career professionally, causing he and Crazyytown to miss out of festivals and large concerts.
Shellshock, whose real name was Seth Binzer, was survived by his three children, Halo, Gage, and Phoenix.
Robyn Hitchcock
Famed English singer/songwriter Robyn Hitchcock is releasing a new memoir called “1967: How I got There and Why I Never Left” with Akshik and Little Brown, in the U.S. and U.K. respectively. The memoir will be supported by book events in both the U.K. and the U.S.
1967: How I Got There and Why I Never Left” chronicles a time in Hitchcock’s life when he went off to boarding school; more to the point, a time when Bob Dylan was blowing up with Highway 61 Revisited and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was the Beatles latest offering. It’s a coming of age during a cultural explosion that finds Hitchcock discovering the music that would course through his veins for the rest of his life.
The book events are listed below.

Steve Wynn
Speaking of memoirs, The Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn is releasing “I Wouldn’t Say It If It Wasn’t True.” This will be accompanied by a new solo album, “Make It Right.” Both will be released on August 30th. “Make It Right” is his first solo release in fourteen years. Wynn had this to say about the memoir, “With each chapter, I would get ideas for songs inspired by the deep dive into my past and vice versa. The reflections became intertwined after a while, a mutual commentary between literal and metaphorical ruminating. It was a dialogue between the memoirist and the musician, a one-man Q&A, a gentle volley in the tennis court of my mind. 40-love, game, set and match.”
There will be a tour for the memoir and the solo album beginning at City Winery in New York City on October 8th. The track list for “Make it Right” is below.
