Caffe Lena – Week At A Glance

Greetings – “We need to build community and bring people together.” So many of you have been saying something along these lines when you come to visit. Folk music is music to create and enjoy together. Here at Lena’s you can participate in that tradition from the seats, from the open mic stage, or in a circle of jammers. This is a room where we can enjoy being together, and that feels precious.

Last week we presented DakhaBrakha from Kyiv, Ukraine. This week we present Ladysmith Black Mambazo from Durban, South Africa. This music has brought joy and comfort in darkness and light.  From a different corner of the world comes the global fusion of Reverie Road, playing the Caffe for the first time on Thursday evening. This super group comprises former members of Solas, Gaelic Storm and Cherish the Ladies. Their exquisite piano, accordion and string music will sound glorious in our listening room!
