Chris Jones & the Night Drivers make some of the most distinctively elegant yet driving bluegrass music heard anywhere today. Deeply rooted in tradition but never bound to it, they deliver original music with tight arrangements, emotional authenticity, and engaging humor. As actor and banjo player Steve Martin says, “Chris Jones’ voice is there with the great masters,” adding that the Night Drivers are “some of the best players in bluegrass.”

Griffin House, Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs, 8pm-10pm
A Nashville-based musician with a Midwestern upbringing, Griffin House bought his first guitar for $100 from a friend, then turned down a golf scholarship to Ohio University and instead went to Miami University where he taught himself how to play guitar and write songs. Inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Woody Guthrie, and the Mermaid Avenue albums by Wilco and Billy Bragg, House embraced the craft of songwriting and issued several albums as an independent artist. His mix of sentimental melodies, ambient guitars, and sparse arrangements attracted attention from Nettwerk, a Vancouver-based record label, and House soon partnered with the label’s American branch to issue Lost & Found in 2004. Several self-released albums followed, and House signed with RCA before issuing Flying Upside Down, a folk-rock album recorded with members of Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers. (AllMusic) His latest release “The Tides” is a five song EP recorded with Grammy Award-winning producer Jacquire King.
