65th Anniversary Folk Heritage Series: Eric Andersen, Caffe Lena, 8pm-10pm
As part of our 65th Anniversary Folk Heritage Series, we bring you Eric Andersen. Eric Andersen is a towering figure in the world of folk music—a songwriter, poet, and performer whose words have stirred hearts and shaped the genre for over five decades. Emerging from the vibrant Greenwich Village scene of the 1960s, Andersen quickly became known for his deeply literate, introspective songs and striking stage presence.
He’s the writer behind iconic tracks like “Thirsty Boots,” “Violets of Dawn,” and “Close the Door Lightly When You Go”—songs that have been recorded by artists including Judy Collins, Linda Ronstadt, The Grateful Dead, and Bob Dylan. Over the years, he’s collaborated with musical giants like Joan Baez, Lou Reed, Townes Van Zandt, and Joni Mitchell, forging a path that bridges folk, rock, and poetic songwriting with elegance and emotional power.
