Perry Bamonte

Cure guitarist-keyboardist Perry Bamonte passed away after a short illness over Christmas. He was 65. Bamonte’s tenure with the band was fifteen years, from 1990 to 2005.

This was posted on The Cure’s website: It is with enormous sadness that we confirm the death of our great friend and bandmate Perry Bamonte who passed away after a short illness at home over Christmas. Quiet, intense, intuitive, constant and hugely creative, ‘Teddy’ was a warmhearted and vital part of The Cure story.

‘Looking after the band’ from 1984 through 1989, he became a full time member of the Cure in 1990, playing guitar, six string bass and keyboard on the Wish, Wild Mood Swings, Bloodflowers, Acoustic Hits and The Cure albums, as well as performing more than 400 shows over 14 years.

He rejoined the cure in 2022, playing another 90 shows, some of the best in the band’s history, culminating with the show of a lost world concert in London 1st November 2024.

Our thoughts and condolences are with all his family. He will be very greatly missed.”

Imani Smith

Imani Smith, actress in Broadway’s Lion King, was stabbed to death at 26. Her boyfriend has been charged in the crime. In a fundraiser set up by family and friends, this is written: “Imani had her whole life ahead of her. She was a vivacious, loving and fiercely talented person,” reads the GoFundMe page. “A true triple-threat performer, she most notably played the role of Young Nala on Broadway in Disney’s Lion King — an experience that reflected the joy, creativity, and light she put into the world.”

The GoFundMe now has around sixty-six thousand dollars in it.

David Bowie

David Bowie’s Black American three man backing rhythm section, the remainders, were seen at the famed Metropol, in Berlin. On November, they kicked off a sixteen-city European tour, showcasing the music of Bowie’s Berlin Trilogy.
