CAFFÈ LENA welcomes 518 soul rocker BUGGY JIVE for an evening of solo-acoustic songs Dec. 10 to celebrate album release
Reclusive artist hits the road in support of new album ‘Daedalus Down’
ALBANY, NY — Oct. 26, 2026 — Semi-reclusive acoustic soul rock singer-songwriter BUGGY JIVE makes his Caffè Lena headlining debut THURSDAY, DEC. 10, 7-9 p.m., offering solo-acoustic arrangements of songs from both his award-winning 2025 album Icarus Ascending and its forthcoming companion album Daedalus Down (plus the usual old favorites).
While the longtime Delmar resident and Niskayuna native has performed on the Lena stage many times over the years — from open mics, to songwriter circles, to tribute nights for Dylan and Joni and the Beatles, and even as the opening act for Joy Clark earlier this year — this show marks his first performance at the venue as a headliner.
“It’s a big deal, a bucket list moment,” he says. “And yes, I’m a little scared.”
Which is totally on brand for an artist who has spent much of his music career in hiding.
Buggy Jive has long been considered a musical recluse of sorts, quietly uploading creatively self-produced soul rock albums and music videos from his basement home studio in Delmar.
But in recent years the singer-songwriter has emerged from the basement for a select few solo-acoustic live shows in intimate settings, including well-received opening act sets for Macy Gray at the Troy Music Hall and Ben Folds at Saratoga New Years Eve, and a string of Northeast tour dates in March of this year in support of Righteous Babe Records’ singer-songwriter Joy Clark.
The December show at Caffè Lena is part of a limited run of headlining shows to promote the new album, including a Nov. 7 show at 443 Social Club in Syracuse and a soon-to-be-officially-
The new music and upcoming tour dates arrive as Buggy Jive continues to level up in 2026 with a string of career successes, including an official showcase at Folk Alliance International’s annual conference in New Orleans, the aforementioned shows supporting Joy Clark, and a sweep in four categories at the Capital Region “Eddies” music awards, including Singer-Songwriter of the Year and Album of the Year for Icarus Ascending.
Set for a Dec. 8 release, Daedalus Down is a sequel of sorts to Icarus Ascending. What began as a short EP of outtakes from the Icarus record quickly expanded into a full album of nine all-new songs, each written and recorded by Buggy in his basement home studio in the first few months of 2026. Each song on Daedalus has a thematic counterpart on Icarus, with more lyrics contemplating songwriting and storytelling, love and literature, and the festering fears of a divided nation.
CDs of Daedalus Down will be available at the Caffè Lena show; the recently released punk folk single “Meaning in the Morning” and its soul folk follow-up “Love at 50 Percent” are currently streaming.
