Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band ‘eggstraordinary’ show at The Egg

Written by on November 21, 2021

The Egg in Albany, filled as fans scrambled in, each one, eggcited about seeing Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
As I spoke to those waiting for the show, it occurred to me how many of these fans have seen this band before–many times before.  True followers, they came knowing what to eggspect, and they were not disappointed.

The show opened with The Ally Venable Band from Texas.  A talented woman, Ally was playing as if every note mattered.  She later came out to join Kenny in one song on his set.

It seems like it was just yesterday, I heard a new song by a new artist. It was on WPYX radio. My ears immediately perked up not hearing the usual fare at the time.  It was Kenny Wayne Shepherd.  At the time, barely 16, he already had a record released! I knew he would definitely be a force to be reckoned with.  Here, almost 30 years later, he is still filling the venue, and rocking the house.  With a Strong Stevie Ray influence for sure, but definitely Kenny puts his own take on things.
Kenny’s masterful guitar playing was joined by the voice of Noah Hunt (With KWS since 1997) Clear vocal tone and undeniably the voice of Kenny Wayne Shepherd band- soulful voice- so smooth.
Chris Layton (Formerly of Stevie Ray Vaughan) along with bassist Troy Franklin and keyboard player Riley Osbourn.
