Lauren Hill – Reunion Tour with the Fugees

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of her debut solo album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Lauren Hill will be reuniting with her former band, The Fugees for an international tour.
From Lauren Hill, “’The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator,”
The Fugees tour starts on September 8th in Miami, so if you’re a superfan, pack your swimsuits, but if you’re a regular fan, you can catch the tour in New York later in September, for the Global Citizen Festival (so be a good global citizen and use public transportation while you’re down there. Or least tip your cabbie.) That’s in Brooklyn on Tuesday, the 17th, and if you want a double, you can go check it out in Newark, NJ on Thursday, the 19th.
And as far as the Fugees go, this collection had Lauren Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel, all who went on to fame on their own. Every once in a while you get that kind of band that the form a gear in the inner workings of music, and Fugees was one of those bands. They split in ’97, but have gotten on stage together since.
“Miseducation” saw the light of day in August of ’98 and is one of the foundational hip hop and R&B records. It took five Grammys. Album of the year? Best New Artist? C’mon. And it was the first hip hop album to snag Album of the Year. Whether you were alive back then, or wish you were, this is one album you’ll wish you didn’t miss. So don’t miss it.
Tickets are already on sale, and you’ve probably missed the “stampede” phase. Even the nosebleeds are going to be a sight.
Here’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” to whet your whistle.
