Creative License to present Afterlife: A Ghost Story at Cohoes Music Hall

Written by on February 16, 2024

Rehearsals are underway for the upcoming Creative License production Afterlife: A Ghost Story at the historic Cohoes Music Hall.  This haunting drama brings together a cast of local theater stalwarts, in a story dark in tone and vibrant in imagery, that crescendos into a striking tragedy of love and loss.

Written by Stephen Yockey and first produced in 2011, Afterlife is a ghost story in the most literal sense. In the wake of unfathomable loss, Connor and Danielle (Ian LaChance and Angelique Powell) prepare their beachfront home for an impending storm. But when the storm rolls in faster than expected, it may be too late for them to escape the haunting world of unsent letters, unexpected snow, unfinished sand castles, unrelenting birds, and an unforgettable tragedy that threatens to swallow the pair forever. Yockey intertwines the fantastical and the realistic to create a familiar world in which anything can happen. This hauntingly beautiful play asks the question: what do you do when the hardest part of living is remembering?

Joining Powell and LaChance are Sara Paupini (The Proprietress), Rhiannon Antico (The Seamstress), David Quinones, Jr. (The Postman/Black Bird) and Luke Gaudreau (Young Man). The show is co-directed by Creative License founders Aaron Holbritter and Casey Polomaine and will run at the historic Cohoes Music Hall on March 8th – 10th and 15th – 17th.

“This is certainly one of the most unusual and unexpectedly powerful plays we’ve ever done,” says co-director Polomaine, “and we are incredibly lucky to have so much talent on this stage. Get your tickets now because this is definitely one people will be talking about.”

Tickets are on sale now at the Cohoes Music Hall website!
