Last Friday was a great night for Ska-Punk in America! Girth Control released their 25 track record via Insidious Industries entitled ‘Life’s Too Short For Girth Control’ and the release party was held at Empire Underground in Albany. Earlier in the day I (Rob Smittix) played the just released album in it’s entirety on my radio show on RadioRadioX and it certainly got me in the mood to skank.

All of the opening bands were as fun as you can imagine but when Girth Control finally hit the stage the crowd pressed close to the stage, sang along and danced their asses off. Girth Control reunited for several songs during the set with their former Public Access bandmates to bring the horns back into the mix and I got to say they crushed it.  It was a “you should’ve been there” moment because I can assure you there won’t be a lot of reunions like this.

The encore was a Ska-Version of Slayer’s “Raining Blood” which left the crowd chanting one more song, except this was already the encore. I guess people just never wanted it to end, myself included!

I recently interviewed Girth Control for No MSG TV, check it out HERE.
