Founded in 2004 by New York guitarist, Steph Paynes, the all-girl quartet, Lez Zeppelin, has since gained unanimous critical acclaim as one of the most exciting live acts around, becoming the first female rock act to pay homage to led zeppelin and to garner rave reviews across the board. Lez Zeppelin stays true to the musically audacious spirit of the original, delivering the legendary rock band’s blistering arrangements and monstrous sound note-for-note at sold-out frenzied shows around the world. BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! CDAI presents our immersive version of RENT,a rock-opera set in Alphabet City during the HIV/AIDS Crisis.

DJ Quissy x DJ Static x DJ Sirroc x DJ Ace Boogie, Putnam Place, Saratoga Springs, 10pm

The Black Feathers, Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs, 8pm

With roots in British and American folk, The Black Feathers’ magical harmonies intertwine with gorgeous ballads and side-splitting humor.

English husband-wife duo Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler weave the spirit of traditional UK folk with acoustic indie rock, reminding listeners of the era of Steeleye Span. Hughes’ guitar work and the duos’ emotive harmony vocals are pure magic. Having already built up a loyal following in the UK, The Black Feathers have been spreading their wings across the US, with sets at Philadelphia Folk Festival and AmericanaFest. Interspersed with their sparkling ballads they share a ripping sense of humor that never fails to leave the audience in stitches.

The Invincible Casuals and Deke Dickerson & the Whippersnappers, Hangar on the Hudson, Troy, 8pm-11pm

Deke Dickerson & the Whippersnappers

“It’s a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it,” claims journeyman musician/singer/entertainer Deke Dickerson. As usual, Dickerson adds dry wit to a serious proclamation of his career intent: keeping America’s roots music alive while interjecting new creativity—a blood transfusion, if you will—into genres of music that flourished in decades previous. Such efforts have rewarded him with the Ameripolitan “Musician of the Year” award, among other accolades.

The Invincible Casuals

A party band up there with the best of them. An iteration of Chandler Travis’s Incredible Casuals, known for their legendary Beachcomber Sunday sets.

Hudson River Maritime Museum presents Seven Sentinels: Lighthouses of the Hudson River, The Linda, Albany, 1pm-3pm

Of the dozens of lighthouses and lights that once dotted the Hudson River, only seven remain. This iconic American river, at the heart of the rise of New York City and westward expansion into the interior of the continent, was also a transportation super highway long before automobiles were invented. Throughout it all, the lighthouses kept watch, guarding the safety of the Hudson’s waterborne traffic.

Roy Book Binder, Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs, 8pm-10pm

Ambassador of the blues and one of the finest fingerpickers working today, Roy Book Binder has been a Caffè Lena favorite since 1968.

Roy Book Binder has been rambling around the world for over 50 years. In the late 60s, he traveled with the legendary Rev. Gary Davis. In the 70s he recorded his first solo acoustic blues album. In the 80s he joined Bonnie Raitt’s East Coast Tour, and in the 90s he frequently appeared with Jorma Kaukonen, who recorded two of his songs.

The Dead Tongues, Hangar on the Hudson, Troy, 8pm-11pm

After five months of not picking up an instrument, The Dead Tongues’ Ryan Gustafson wanted to get rid of everything that was tied to his identity as a musician. He even thought about changing his name. He was getting ready to throw out old notebooks packed with years of material but, for some reason, he decided to stop and go through them, just to see if there was anything worth saving. And sure enough, he found some images and lyrics, threads from former selves he didn’t want to lose. Thus was the catalyst for Dust, his fifth and best album as The Dead Tongues. Gustafson recorded Dust in nine days, the fastest he’d ever recorded anything. It was the fastest he’d ever written anything, too – in the past, writing a song would take months, but this time he somehow felt freer, and wanted to have fun. The record was recorded at Sylvan Esso’s studio, Betty’s, in the woods of Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Chris Ruggiero, The Egg, Albany, 3pm

Part of the Guest Music Presentations Series

Chris Ruggiero’s all-new show is the perfect kick-off to the summer, jam-packed with feel-good sun-drenched vibes and priceless musical memories! If you remember songs like “California Dreamin’,” “My Girl,” “Groovin’” and “Wouldn’t it Be Nice,” you’ll be in the right place at the right time when Chris brings his “Summer Serenade” to the Egg. You might know him from his PBS-TV performances, his appearance on Good Morning America or from one of his prior.

Chris tells his incredible story by breathing new life into the timeless music of the 60s & 70s with his über-talented band – complete with a touch of live brass just like in the old days. Many of his unique arrangements have been crafted with the magic touch of Four Seasons arranger and pop-rock legend Charlie Calello (who is also a fan, commenting, “It’s been a long time since I heard a voice like this.”) Chris’s show will leave you feeling sun-kissed long after he leaves the stage. PS: If you know Chris from his previous albums and shows, don’t worry, he’ll be singing favorites like “Unchained Melody” and “Betcha By Golly Wow” as well.
