This is Jesse Sample. Do you believe that people can be conditioned by stimulus in their environment? We experience the world around us with our senses and I believe that our inner worlds are somewhat shaped by what we are exposed to.

The ambulance or the police car speeding by, blasting sirens, on their way to an emergency, leaves an impression. Multitudes of different media display a world on fire and full of pain. The people in our lives believe things that we might not think are good. People are sometimes very cruel to one another. And we need to reconcile these things on the fly. Life is moving fast and there is not always time to digest the wild things we come upon.

Sometimes I allow myself to feel what I’ve been carrying around. I feel the tightness in my shoulders and become aware of my not-so-nice inner monologue. In these times, it occurs to me that death is everywhere but there is no gain in living like there is a grizzly bear standing in front of me.
