This is Jesse Sample. Sometimes, I feel the urge to pull myself together. Sometimes, I need a change. I feel a desire to pursue something healthy. There have been times in my life when I have had the discipline to rise with the sun.

I’m not what you might call a natural morning person. But sometimes the clean and untouched world calls to me. It feels good to be out and to witness the animals diligently going about their business while most folks are sleeping. They adhere to an ancient law and it makes our modern worries seem small and insignificant.

I live close to Anne Lee pond and on an early fall day the water is as still as glass.

In this tender time, I can refresh my heart and imagine a healthier life and mindset free of the stress and distractions that I will encounter later.
