GIRL LOVE – LIVE ALBUM RELEASE PARTY & PRIDE CELEBRATION, The Linda, Albany, 7pm-10pm

Join us on Thursday, June 13th at The Linda in Albany, NY, for a night of music, joy, and community as Girl Love celebrates the release of their LIVE ALBUM— “Altar (Live from Mount Ida)” a powerful collection of folk songs affirming queer holiness.

This special Pride Month event will feature a soul-stirring set by Girl Love, plus an incredible guest performance by Sawyer Fredericks, winner of The Voice! Together, they’ll bring an evening of folk music that uplifts, affirms, and celebrates the beauty of queer existence. Opening the night will be three new local songwriters, Ava Rose, Ayesha, and Raya who work with Girl Love herself to hone their craft and share their stories.

Mark Normand, The Egg, Albany, 7pm

Dubbed by Jerry Seinfeld as the “best young up and coming comic,” Mark Normand has quickly become one of the most talked about touring comedians on the scene. Normand’s 2023 one-hour Netflix special, SOUP TO NUTS, was a staple in the streamers’ Top Ten for several weeks. This follows Normand’s self-released special, 2020’s OUT TO LUNCH which amassed over 12 million views on YouTube. He also starred on Netflix’s Season 3 of THE STAND UPS. Normand’s popularity has also translated to tours internationally to such countries as Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Spain, Norway and Portugal.

Chris Duarte Group w /Alastair Greene, Putnam Place, Saratoga Springs, 8pm-11pm

Firebrand blues guitarist Chris Duarte dropped his sophomore album, Texas Sugar Strat Magik, in 1994, and it sold an excess of 100,000 units. It was a big success for a modern blues album. Duarte went onto win the highly coveted “Best New Talent” in Guitar Player’s Reader’s Poll, and he finished fourth in the magazine’s “Best Blues Guitarist” category, behind legends Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy and B.B. King. He would go on to issue a string of critically-acclaimed blues, blues-rock albums, and experimental fusion-tinged albums. In the ensuing years, Duarte would also maintain an in-demand touring schedule both as a solo artist and as a sideman.

This program opens with Beethoven’s Trio in E-flat Major for Piano, Violin, and Cello, a bold debut work from 1795 that blends Classical elegance with glimpses of the innovation that would define his career. Jean Françaix’s Trio for Violin, Viola, and Cello is a lively and witty piece from the 20th-century French composer known for his sparkling textures and playful charm. The program concludes with Dvořák’s Quartet in E-flat Major for Piano, Violin, Viola, and Cello, a work that weaves Czech folk-inspired melodies with the rich lyricism and vitality of Romanticism, ending the program on a joyous, radiant note.
