Greetings – We’re in a time of high emotions and heavy headlines. I know that many in our audience are carving out time to express their beliefs on the streets and connect with likeminded citizens. Through it all, the need for respite and beauty hasn’t gone away—it’s essential.
This week we’re welcoming three artists who carry powerful stories: Dom Flemons comes to us from Chicago with the history and sounds of Black American folk music. Texan Sue Foley channels the grit and grace of a huge array of women musicians with her special tribute show. Humbird arrives from Minnesota with quiet, poetic strength.
In times like these, live music reminds us who we are and who we want to be. By coming to this room that has seen us through so much since 1960, we can tap into the energy and endurance we need.
See you at the show,
Sarah
