Arrow Through Me – Thanks for Asking! – by Liam Sweeny.
RRX: What was the very first reaction to your music, from the first person to ever hear so much as a practice jam or the demo of your first song?
ATM: From what we all remember was someone saying “This is really dope”.
RRX: “The best laid plans of mice and men…” I don’t really know the quote, but I know this one; sh*t happens. When we least expect it, calamity befalls us. Sometimes just comic inconvenience. Please tell us a story about some comic inconvenience that happened to you whilst performing?
ATM: We once played a live studio performance and during the first song, all of us were only able to hear our one guitar player at full volume. However, we were able to pull off the show and were able to laugh about it at the end of the day.
RRX: My singer punched my drummer out. Memorable moment, though nothing to brag about. But we have these things that, when summing up your endeavor, an incident comes to mind. What do you got?
ATM: We once played at our guitar players house for a halloween party and we were all in costumes. However, the layout was very strange where our singer had to perform on a staircase the whole set and our previous drummer was mic’d up in his laundry room and the rest of the band was in the kitchen. Not only did we play the set once, but were asked to play it a second time! Was definitely a strange show, but everyone seemed to be having a great time!
RRX: We have to play somewhere, and sometimes those places have more going for them than a stage and a power outlet. What is a memorable place you played, and bonus points if it’s not a well-known place.
ATM: Our most memorable show was when we performed at Singlecut Brewery in Clifton Park, NY for the debut release of our EP, “Ephemera”. We also got to perform with our friends in E.R.I.E who were also releasing a new album that day. Everyone at Singlecut was very nice and friendly and everyone had an amazing set.
RRX: Playing out is tricky because you never know what’s going to happen when you get there. Sometimes everything goes wrong. What was your worst show like?
ATM: We’re still a relatively new band so we have only played a handful of shows at the moment, but we have been fortunate enough that the shows we have played have all been wonderful experiences.
RRX: Would you rather have one of your songs blow up and make you a one-hit wonder and household name, or would you rather have all your songs be solidly received, but no chart-climbers? (You have to pick one or the other here.)
ATM: I think we would rather have all of our songs be solidly received, but no chart-climbers.
