Greetings – This past Tuesday we celebrated the life of Joel Moss, our illustrious and beloved staff member who died suddenly on September 15. It was a night to be remembered, complete with New Orleans brass, two stages, a crowd in the streets and a packed house upstairs. Joel understood that the power of music goes far beyond tickets, paychecks, hit singles and fame. More important than all that, it clears the way for deep feelings, the excitement of craft, and it weaves our hearts together. We felt all of that on Tuesday night. We have an all-star week ahead! Not only current Grammy-winner Ruthie Foster of Texas, but 50+-time Grand Ol’ Opry performers and multiple IBMA-winners Darin and Brooke Aldridge. And that’s before we even get to the weekend, where we have the crème de la crème of the Capital Region music scene. Reese Fulmer & the Carriage House Band will be playing their first double-header on Saturday, and our favorite gospel artist, Garland Nelson, will lead the room in a spirited, soul-cleansing dinner of music and delicious Carribbean food on Sunday.
