Woody Weatherman is Corrosion of Conformity’s lone founding member and guitarist, and thus
one of my all-time favorite metal musicians. I’ve been a fan since the 1990s when COC’s first
major radio hit, “Albatross,” – off Deliverance – came through my FM radio and they have
remained one of the most consistent metal bands.
COC’s newest LP was more than seven years in the making, and Good God | Baad Man has all
the hallmarks of their doom/thrash/rock/metal hybrid with some extra blues and groove thrown
in for good measure.
Woody and I spoke about how the band can keep their sound identifiable even amid – and
thanks to – some lineup changes and the fact that the quartet can take its time to write and
produce. We also talked about some of my favorite albums (like 1991’s Blind, 1996’s Wiseblood
and 2005’s In The Arms of God) and his excitement to hit the road alongside The Sword for a
co-headline tour that starts in Buffalo on Nov. 2.
Horns up!
