Island Prank? – Weird Side of the Internet – by Liam Sweeny.
Have you ever heard of comedian William Banks? I hadn’t until a few minutes ago. If the narrative is believed, he and a group of friends have been lost on an island off the coast of Uruguay. How do we know this?
He has internet. And there’s something you should know about William Banks. Once he escaped from prison. And that’s only one thing. There are more, too many to count, so I won’t try. As a comedian, Banks is known to very “method,” and will go to the ends of the earth for a good, well-developed prank. And now they’re lost on a desert island.
There is a chance, however small, that it’s legit. But there’s a fight between Banks and a worthy challenger in Buenos Aires on December 20th. So is this a lead up?
Can you imagine being stranded on a desert island for real? I mean the part of the ocean where the closest thing to you is the space station floating overhead. Where they don’t speak the language and they don’t drink the water cause there’s no one to do either of those things; it’s just you.
First thing I would do is get naked. You are litterry hundreds, is not more than a thousand miles to next person, and so what if a satellite catches your altogether? Getting noticed is kind of the point, innit? And other than that, really, what do you have? Because you’re going to have to occupy yourself with whatever washed ashore with you. Assuming you can spear a couple fish and you find a clean water source, you might be in for some Jack Handy-style deep thoughts.
As far as William Banks goes, I’m sure it’s bogus, but if he’s so method, he probably is on an island somewhere. Just that there’s hotels on it and police that look like they’re dressed for bicycles.
