Around Town: Troy River Festival 2022 (7/17/2022) Recap By: Amy Modesti

After a two-year hiatus, “River Street Expo” (as it was titled), returned to Downtown Troy last year for a resurrection of live music, arts vending, and family fun. At a time when the pandemic was easing, families ventured to the Collar City to enjoy a bit of normalcy at one of the city’s many large event gatherings of the year.

Troy River Festival 2022 did just the same, if not more this time around to bring out the fun for all on a larger scale. Although Sunday’s temps were scorching, it didn’t stop visitors from coming out to enjoy the fest.

Plenty of area businesses, artisans, food & beverage vendors, and live entertainment were on deck along the entire length of River Street and sections of Broadway, Second Street, and First Street. The kid’s area along second street featured sidewalk drawing, a circus show put on by the Big Top Circus, and bird viewing at the Whispering Willow Wild Care.

For its third year, RadioRadioX.com and the Xperience Monthly Magazine provided live entertainment along upper River Street. The station partnered with Mirth Films to bring entertainment to the stage. Spectators were treated to entertainment by Gus Unplugged (Blackcat Elliot), The Blanks FKA the Bremners, Scotty Mac Trio, and The Chris Busone Band.

Troy River Festival 2022 was sponsored by Pioneer, Honest Weight Food Co-Op, CDTA, Price Chopper/Market 32, Times Union, and RadioRadiox.com. It was put on by the City of Troy, NY Downtown Business Improvement District.
