Mui Zyu

Hong Kong and London artist Mui Zyu will be releasing a new album, her second, “Nothing or Something to Die For.” It will be hit the shelves on May 24th, from Father/Daughter Records. Her single, “Everything to Die For” is there, along with guest appearances by Miss Grit, lei,e, and Pickle Darling.

Her new single is “the mould.” A pop track with diverse instrumentation. About “the mold,” Zyu said, . “Mould is very cool, and the right kind can give you super powers. Unfortunately though, it’s less than ideal to be squeezed in to a mould that doesn’t fit snuggly. So I’m at the bottom of the rotten jelly bowl trying to work out what mould is the good kind, and what is the bad kind, and maybe realising none of it really matters at all, as long as I can get out of this steep, slippery bowl. This also marks a new approach for my writing indicative of the whole record in a kind of anti-overture-y way.”

Mui Zyu will be attending the SXSW in this month, and touring in the UK and Europe.

From BrooklynVegan.com

BULLY – “ATOM BOMB”

Bully just began her tour supporting Grouplove last night, and today the grunge revivalist changes things up with a new piano ballad.

DANA GAVANSKI – “EARS WERE GROWING”

The latest single from Dana Gavanski’s upcoming album LATE SLAP finds her going in more of a twitchy, whimsical art pop direction than usual, and she pulls it off well.

RICO NASTY & BOYS NOIZE – “ARINTINTIN”

Veteran beatmaker Boys Noize and chameleonic rapper Rico Nasty have announced a collaborative EP, HVRDC0RE DR3AMZ, due March 29 via Sugar Trap/Atlantic/Big Beat, and here’s the four-on-the-floor lead single.

NØ MAN – “MARCH OF IDES”

Majority Rule offshoot NØ MAN have shared the second single from their upcoming album Glitter and Spit, and it’s a screamo/hardcore rager that vocalist Maha Shami says is “about corrupt leaders breathing the same infected, power hungry air molecules of dictators from history and an inevitable countdown to their demise.”

MARTHA – “A PRAISE CHORUS” & “CRUSH” (JIMMY EAT WORLD COVERS)

UK indie-punks Martha have shared covers of two Jimmy Eat World classics, and they do a great job of putting their spin on the songs without losing the charms of the originals.

KAMAAL WILLIAMS – “EVERYTHING IN ITS RIGHT PLACE” (RADIOHEAD COVER)

Jazz/electronic musician puts a very cool spin on Radiohead’s classic Kid A opener.

PSYCHIC GRAVEYARD – “YOUR SMILE IS A HOAX”

This is the first single from Psychic Graveyard’s Wilting which is out June 7 via Artoffact Records. Say the band: “‘This Butthole Surfers bass guitar sounds awesome! Let’s put some synth and bass guitar together.’ That was the main impetus for creating this song—the craving for a fuzzed-out bass guitar. Over the years, we’ve realized that our songs are birthed in pairs. ‘Your Smile is a Hoax’ is the sister to another Psychic Graveyard track off this upcoming album called “Haunted By Your Bloodline”. Both feature the use of two low-register instruments playing off of each other, with a higher synth note popping obnoxiously out of the mix. We feel as though it helps keep the chaos grounded. Those higher swirl elements come from a forgotten field recording of an ambulance passing by Nate’s house in San Diego. Lyrically, it fills in the listener on some of our experiences as an afflicted band in today’s world, traveling all over the place while we’re wounded, but somehow having a blast while we’re out there—bleeding everywhere.”

STREET POWER – PROMO 2024

You can probably guess what a Boston hardcore band called Street Power might sound like, and their new two-song promo Triple B delivers on exactly the fury you were probably hoping for.
