This is Jesse Sample. There is something special about going for a walk. You are forgoing the ease and speed of modern vehicles and taking your place in the ancient community of most people for most of history. We walk. When we were hunter gatherers we made our way across the continents, mainly on foot. Most of the people in the Ancient Persian Army didn’t ride elephants. We walked. You get it.

In our world of technology and never-ending stimulus, we might get caught up in our internal loops. Stepping out into nature can give us a sense of priority and some useful perspective on what’s real and important and what’s not. The woodchuck isn’t pining over what the other woodchucks think because he slipped up and used of the C-word at brunch. He’s got things to do. Life and death things. Like chucking wood…
