AP Dhillon

You may not know Indo-Canadian rapper AP Dhillon, but if you do, you may be aware of his recent Coachella controversy – smashing his gold ESP LTD Kirk Hammet V guitar onstage. While this has been a classic and oft-copied move through rock history – think Peter Townshend of The Who, or Nirvana’a Kurt Cobain, it went over very poorly on social media, prompting Red Hot Chili Pepper’s Flea to lament his smashing of his bass back in the day.

The point of the controversy is that the musical instrument that brought Dhillon his success should be cherished, and respect for musical instruments is a value in Indian culture.

Michael Anthony

Former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony has recently opened up about his relationship with his bandmate David Lee Roth. While expressing no animosity, he saiud that Roth was “kind of a crazy guy.”

The reconstituted Van Halen, featuring Anthony, Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani and Jason Bonham, will be launching a new tour, called “Best of All Worlds.” They’ll be performing Van Halen Hits throughout the years.

Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp had a Q&A with Anthony last month, in which, among other things, he said, , “Dave’s kind of a crazy guy. It’s hard to explain Dave. We don’t have enough time. But, no, other than that, no. I mean, I don’t have anything against Dave. And I’ve said this in the past to different people, whatever, that if the chance ever came up or whatever, I would definitely be willing to jam with him or whatever. In fact, I think the last time he did his last [residency] shows at the House Of Blues in Vegas some years back. I was actually gonna come to one of those shows and surprise him and come up and jump on stage, but, unfortunately, we were playing a gig somewhere else — Sammy and I were.”
