Zombie House Murder – The Weird Side of the Internet – by Liam Sweeny.
Covering weird news is a mixed back. Sometimes it’s hilarious, and very fun to riff off on. But “weird” doesn’t always mean “funny.” There is a single solidifying element to weird news, a unifying aspect, and that is that it is interesting. And in some cases, it is like a car wreck that you can’t look away from.
And it is with that preamble that I introduce you to couple David Tronnes and Shanti Cooper-Tronnes. It was a match made in heaven, a woman meets a man with a multi-million dollar inheritance, enters wedlock, and through the magic of a binding contract, ends up with a miser that refuses to pay any more than a sliver of the bills. But, shining light, he did buy a house, for $600,000. Slight shade, he didn’t put her on the deed. Shadow on the shade, the house is a money pit, glimmer of light, they have a chance to be on A&E’s “Zombie House Flipping,” a show where they take abandoned and crapy houses and make them superstars. So where were we? Glimmer in trouble, Shanti (the wife) walks out on the show before production.
Light extinguished? Shanti Cooper-Tonnes is found murdered in her bathroom with David Tonnes claiming she fell.
This was in 2018. The trial is starting now.
I don’t have any funny quips, I just wonder where is the line to get out of a bad situation. A marriage is a legal contract, and cohabitation is most of the time a financial necessity, so there is an element of being trapped. And I guess that’s the point. This guy was rotten. And before you say that she shouldn’t have gotten with a man for his money, know that he just as easily could’ve lied about anything. In fact, there are allegations that he met men in the bathroom for sex.
Men, don’t lie. Don’t murder anyone over a damn house show. There.
