Mista Pigz – Interview – Thanks for Asking! – by Liam Sweeny.

RRX: Every artist’s first song is a milestone. But so is the latest song. Describe the first song/album you recorded, and also the latest song/album you recorded; what are the differences?

MP: I think the growth in the music is the biggest difference between starting out and the current stuff. When I started, I had raw energy, saying whatever came to mind which was great at the time but as I got older experience and wisdom helped me to create better songs with a better delivery. I was also able to establish relationships with other people which allowed me to be more selective with my production on the songs.

RRX: Like songs, every artist has a unique feeling about their first show. What was your first show like? Was it your best show? If not, what was your best show like?

MP: There is nothing like the first time you hit the stage, the adrenaline of being in front of people is amazing but it was not my best show. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I think opening up for a sold out WuTang show or even opening up for Mobb Deep who is one of my favorites are definitely up there as the most memorable.

RRX: It’s a lot of fun living in the present, but we all collect memories and give birth to dreams. We’re talking dreams here. Where do you see yourself next year? In the next five years?

MP: In the next year I plan to release multiple projects, one being a solo album and a few other group projects with my fellow 518 brothers. In the next 5 I plan on setting up some type of tour which allows me to travel the states or even out of the country.

RRX: Sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Or so they say. Whether you’re off the wagon, on it, or never been, there’s something you got a thirst for. What are some of your basically harmless vices?

MP: I definitely indulge in some activities. I love a good drink, especially when I’m out enjoying the night life. I am also an active 420 user and participate in psychedelics from time to time. I’m always down for a good adventure.

RRX: We have to play somewhere, and sometimes those places have more going for them than a stage and a power outlet. What is a memorable place you played, and bonus points if it’s not a well-known place.

MP: So one of the most memorable to me would have to be the tailgate at J18 which is the parking lot of the New York Giants. The energy is always the greatest and there are a lot of great fans and family who support me over there. It’s truly amazing.

RRX: What do you think is the most poorly understood thing about music, or the music you play?

MP: I think that the biggest misconception about music is that popularity, especially in this era , is not always the best stuff out. There are so many talented artists out there getting overlooked because certain influences say what is cool or whatever. With that being said I feel like people should be able to enjoy whatever type of music they want without everything always being stereotyped.
