Caffe Lena – Week at a Glance
Written by Staff on March 3, 2025
Greetings – Happy March! It’s been good to have a winter that behaved like a real winter, but it’s nice to know that spring is coming our way. I have a hunch that someone will lead this old gem at this week’s Bluegrass Jam. If you clicked that link, you’ll know it’s the fiddle tune Maple Sugar, which reminds me that our School of Music is holding its 4th Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 29 from 11AM to 1 PM. Come enjoy this year’s maple syrup poured over all-you-can-eat pancakes with sides, trimmings, live folk music, and the peaceful easy feeling that you’re helping to pass the folk tradition along to the next generation.
Many of you know that Sawyer Fredericks got recruited to compete on The Voice out of Caffe Lena’s open mic–and he won, at age 16. But did you know that one of the songs he sang was May Erlewine’s “Shine On”? Here’s his version, and here’s hers. May played our stage for the first time last year, and we’re very pleased to have her return this Thursday.
See you at the show,
Sarah
