From Lottery to Commissary – The Weird Side of the Internet – by Liam Sweeny.

I love buying lottery tickets. I’m not an addict, but when I see the Powerball or the Mega get up to triple digit jackpots, I’m in. I am debating the Mega though, now that it’s $5. You maybe heard that here first. But, way I figure, from the time you buy the ticket until the time of the drawing, you’ve won, in a very “Schrodinger’s Cat” way. You haven’t won, but you haven’t yet lost, so you can shut out reality and be a winner.

I’m a conservative lottery dreamer. My plan is to invest enough money to live off the interest, and use what’s left to buy real estate or whatever. Maybe buy a senator, I don’t know. I think the scariest thing is getting from the day you win up to the Lottery office, white-knuckling the car ride.

One think I would hope is that it didn’t go to my head right away. I don’t want to be in jail before the news clip comes out. But that is exactly what James “Shannon” Farthing did. He won Kentucky Powerball for $167 million, and within days he was behind bars for kicking a police officer in the face. Which kind of brings up a question. Is this the beginning of a supervillain? I mean, can he simply live on as a general issue scumbag with that kind of money? He has enough for henchmen. How does a criminal pass up the opportunity to pick up a couple of henchmen.

To the man’s redemption, he is splitting the jackpot with his mom, in an attempt to correct some of his being such a lousy son. His mom, of course, already won the lottery when it came to names, hers being Linda Grizzle. I mean, really, the more I read into this story, the more I love it. And while he’s a Kentucky Powerball winner, but as you can guess, it was a Florida cop whose face got kicked.
