Comfort Break – The Weird Side of the Internet – by Liam Sweeny.
Nobody likes surgery. I mean yeah, there’s the post operative pain and the possibility of disability or death, but I think the worst part is that you are going to be unconscious while people you don’t know are doing things to your body.
It’s the job of the anesthesiologist to render you unconscious. I read one place that, if you look at it medically, they are killing you temporarily. Don’t take my word on that. I tend to remember every little bit of nonsense that I come across. But either way, you sitting up screaming isn’t a desirable outcome, and the anesthesiologist is there to make sure that doesn’t happen.
But sometimes they’re not there. And the reasons why could make you shake your head, assuming of course you were conscious to do that. Suhail Anjum is an anesthesiologist. He walked away, and while the patient was fine. The reason he bolted? To get it on with a nurse in an adjoining operating room.
According to Anjum, who did leave a nurse to monitor the patent in his absence, claimed he was going to a rough patch in his marriage due to his daughter being born premature. A nurse walked in on him, and he was fired. Between you and me, I wouldn’t go to a hospital that would keep a guy who did that. His happened in 2023. It’s news now because he’s trying to work again.
This guy had a wife who’d just had her kid premature. What kind of jerk can’t keep it in his pants long enough to be there for his wife? It’s crazy, guys out there will be single for a year or two without even a handie and then they get married and they act like they’re dying if they can’t catch a morning surprise of some post-dinner push-and-pull.
Let’s hope this guy is kept clear of future O.R.s. I’ll leave you with this: he called it a “comfort break.”
