This is Jesse Sample. Just like the song says, you can’t always get what you want. And fair enough. Part of every person’s personal journey into emotional maturity includes not getting something you want. Maybe it was the love interest or the position on a pro-football team. We tried our very best and, but in the end, at that point in time, we didn’t have what was required or it just didn’t work out.

That could represent the end of a story but as a person who’s watched certain things fall apart in his hands, I choose to see it as the beginning of a story. What if it ultimately worked out with my high school girlfriend? There was a time where I wished it would. All those adventures that followed our breaking up would never have occurred. The other relationships and my current wife.  What if I became the famous epic guitar legend I’ve always wanted to be? Would I be happy? Most famous people I know aren’t poster children for joy and the ones that are healthy work very hard at it.

A lot of times, things didn’t work out the way we would have wanted. A lot of times, that played into our hands whether we know it or not. But for some things, we show up, no matter the outcome. We just show up and we make ourselves ready to work for the sake of the process. Last night, Me and Roseanna Grimaldi showed up to the studio and the sweet ghost in that old beautiful building gave us a gift.
